StageBrief is designed to protect your data. Here's how we handle your information and respect your privacy.
StageBrief ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is a rally-stage safety brief management tool developed and published by The IT Whisperers, based in Australia. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that information. Plain-language summary: StageBrief is a fully offline application. It does not connect to the internet, does not send any data to our servers or any third party, and does not track you in any way. All data you enter is stored only on your device and leaves the device only when you explicitly choose to share an exported file.
StageBrief collects no personal information automatically. The App allows you to manually enter the following data, which is stored exclusively on your device:
| Field | Purpose | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Event Name | Identifies the rally event | "Targa Tasmania 2025" |
| Course Name | Identifies the stage | "SS1 Longford North" |
| Stage Commander Name | Optional operational field | "Jane Smith" |
| Course Distance | Technical stage data | "012.350" |
| Start / End Time | Scheduling | "08:30" |
| Event Date | Scheduling | "2025-04-15" |
| Route command entries | Stage safety instructions | Turn directions, gate types |
The Stage Commander Name field may constitute personal data under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate authority to record any individual's name.
We do not use, process, or access your information in any way. All data you enter is processed entirely on your device by the App and is never transmitted to The IT Whisperers or any other party.
All data is stored in a local SQLite database file on your device at the operating system's designated application data directory. The database is not encrypted at rest by default. We recommend: Using a device screen lock / PIN / biometric authentication. Keeping your device operating system up to date. Not leaving the device unattended in unsecured environments.
StageBrief does not share data with any third party automatically. When you use the Export feature, the App generates an XLSX file containing your brief data and offers it to the operating system's share sheet. You choose which application or destination receives the exported file. Once you share a file, it is subject to the privacy policy of the receiving application or service (e.g. Google Drive, email).
The App contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or tracking technologies of any kind. We do not collect: Device identifiers, location data, usage statistics, crash logs (beyond what the OS may capture independently), or any form of telemetry.
StageBrief does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or networked backends. The XLSX export is performed entirely on-device using the open-source MiniExcel library (MIT license).
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because the App collects no information at all, this risk is inherently mitigated.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding personal data: Australian Privacy Act 1988 (APP 12 / APP 13): You have the right to access and correct personal information we hold about you. Because all data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us, we hold no personal information about you. You may delete your data at any time by deleting the App. EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — Articles 15–22): As we process no personal data, the rights to access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, and objection are exercised entirely by you through your device's native controls (delete the App / wipe app data). California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): We do not sell or share personal information. We do not collect personal information as defined by the CCPA. To exercise any right or raise a concern, contact us at: info@stagebrief.org
Data is retained on your device for as long as you keep the App installed. You may delete all data at any time by: Deleting individual briefs from within the App. Clearing the App's data via your device's Settings. Uninstalling the App. We retain no copies of your data.
We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data: The SQLite database file is stored in the OS-protected application sandbox. On Android, we disable system backup (android:allowBackup="false") to prevent the database from being extracted via ADB or uploaded to Google Drive without your knowledge. On iOS/macOS, data is protected by the iOS/macOS application sandbox and data protection APIs.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be published at the URL above. For a fully offline app with no data collection, material changes are unlikely. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document when changes are made.

Please read these terms carefully before using StageBrief. They govern your use of the application and outline our mutual responsibilities.
By downloading, installing, or using StageBrief ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
StageBrief is a fully offline mobile and desktop application that helps Clerks of Course, Safety Officers, and Stage Commanders build, manage, and export rally stage safety briefs. The App does not require an internet connection and does not transmit data to the publisher or any third party.
Subject to these Terms, The IT Whisperers grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for its intended purpose of creating and managing rally stage safety briefs. You may not: Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except where permitted by law. Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the App. Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and safety implications of any safety brief, route command, distance, or other data you create using the App. StageBrief is a documentation and organisational tool — it does **not** independently verify stage conditions, distances, or hazard placements in the real world. You must independently confirm all safety-critical information (hazard locations, distances, marshal instructions, emergency contacts, etc.) against the physical stage before relying on any brief generated by the App. **The App is a productivity aid, not a substitute for professional judgement, event sanctioning body requirements, or on-site verification.**
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The IT Whisperers does not warrant that: The App will be error-free or uninterrupted. Exported briefs will be free from formatting or calculation errors. The App is suitable for every jurisdiction's motorsport regulatory requirements.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The IT Whisperers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the App — including any reliance on safety brief data generated by the App during a live motorsport event. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable consumer protection law (including the Australian Consumer Law).
All brief data is stored locally on your device (see the [Privacy Policy] for details). The IT Whisperers is not responsible for data loss resulting from device failure, App uninstallation, operating system updates, or user error. We recommend regularly exporting and backing up important briefs.
The App uses open-source third-party libraries (including but not limited to .NET MAUI, CommunityToolkit.Mvvm, CommunityToolkit.Maui, ClosedXML, and PdfSharpCore) under their respective open-source licenses. Use of the App does not grant you any rights to these components beyond what their licenses provide.
We may release updates to the App that add, modify, or remove features. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated App and these Terms as they may be amended from time to time.
We may suspend or terminate your license to use the App if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Sections 4, 5, 6, and 11 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia, except where local consumer protection law requires otherwise.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be published at the URL above, and the "Last updated" date will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
